NSHRY is located in the swanky suburb of South Melbourne; where the people are beautiful, the joggers are plentiful, and the locals and wealthy residents can enjoy spectacularly palm-tree framed views of the bay while they sip their morning coffees and read their papers from the balconies of their luxurious apartments along Beaconsfield Parade.
On one particularly beautiful Sunday morning, I found myself having brunch at this chic little beachfront restaurant in celebration of - you guessed it - another friend's 21st (my friends like to eat out a lot kay?!).

Perfect location, perfect weather - all that was needed to round off the experience was a perfect meal. Having worked up an appetite for this meal all morning, my expectations were pretty high. I had an excuse to splurge out, so I decided to pick something that was pretty substantial.
Grilled avocado, poached egg, bacon, roasted pepper & gruyere with capsicum relish on sun-dried tomato & chilli toast |
It didn't take me too long to choose this one. Avocado? Check. Bacon? Check. Gruyere cheese? Check. Sun-dried & chill toast? Um, what even? DOUBLE CHECK.
To this day, this probably remains the best brunch meal I have ever had. For starters - anyone who can master a perfectly poached egg has made it into my good books. This egg was flawless - soft and plump, like a little white balloon. As always, I took a knife to test it out, and, just as I was expecting, the golden yolk oozed out like velvety, fudgey, yolky goodness.
The bacon was so crispy, it broke into pieces with each bite.
The avocado, on the other hand, was tough enough to hold its shape, but soft enough to form a nice spread on my toast. And combined with roasted peppers, gruyere and the spicy relish? Absolutely heavenly.
A stand-out winner.
The other girls were feeling a bit more like lunch. Despite it being only 11:30 am, the chef was happy to oblige given it was a special occasion.
